Title

THE ROLE OF HOMEWORK IN TEACHING-LEARNING PROCESS OF SCIENCE AT PRIMARY LEVELS OF SECONDARY SCHOOLS

Abstract

Homework is defined as any work planned and approved by the teacher to be completed by student outside the regular classroom, usually due within a short period of time. The term homework refers to the school each assigned by the teacher, school or other educational institution. Homework refers to both works completed at home as well as work completed during classes. It is the time student spend outside the classroom in assigned activities to practice reinforce or apply newly acquired skills and knowledge and to learn necessary skills of independent study The objectives of the studies guided the researcher to remain focused on the role of homework in the teaching-learning process of middle level students in secondary schools in Delhi, to ascertain if homework in science helps to enrich classroom experiences and deepen children understanding. The following are student’s perception of homework:  Homework is very meaningful and helps in understanding of science and helps in relating the classroom knowledge to the home experiences.  When homework is returned with constructive comments from the teacher, and if students regularly do their homework and on time, sense of responsibility will developed.  Duly completion and successful returning of homework regularly under guidance in the source of high performance in examination. Homework should never be abolished because if helps in better learning and understanding in the classroom.
