Title

Policy Perspectives in Teacher Education in India

Abstract

The worth of educational system in terms of quality and standard has direct and significant relation to teacher’s professional growth and development. University Education Commission (1964-1966), The National Policy on Education (1986) and Revised NPE (1992) laid stress on the urgent need of qualitative as well as sound programme regarding the professional growth and development of teachers which is totally depends up on the growth and development of teacher education in the country or state. The present paper aims to study the views and recommendations of various commissions & policies as well as to study the progress of teacher education in India.
