Giant African snail, Achatina fulica is an important non-insect pest, causing damage to more than 500 plant species including vegetable, ornamental, fruit and field crops especially during rainy season. Now a days it is also posing a serious threat to mulberry in the states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. In the present study, a survey was conducted in a few selected mulberry gardens in the hot spot areas of above states to record its incidence as well as shoot yield loss in mulberry. The results revealed an average snail incidence of 34.8% and 21.8% in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu respectively, with a shoot yield loss of 8.09 % and 9.10%. It was also found that the use of molluscide viz., 2.5% Metaldehyde pallets in the mulberry gardens was effective in suppressing the snail population to an extent of 90.29 and 93.51% respectively in the above states.
