USAGE OF PLC FOR THE PROTECTION OF INDUCTION MOTOR
Abstract
An induction motor is needed to be protected from the faults like overload, over voltage, under voltage etc. There are many components like voltage, current relay etc. which can be used to protect the induction motors. This is traditional method comprising of mechanical parts. The protection methods based on programmable integrated circuit can be used to remove a number of the mechanical parts. This type of protection requires the conversion from analog signals to digital signals and the drawback of this system is that it doesn’t consider the electrical parameters. In the current study, we highlight the usage of programmable logic controller (PLC) in order to protect the induction motors.
