Title

SYNTHESES AND CHARACTERIZATION OF COBALT, NICKEL, COPPER COMPLEXES CONTAINING 4-BENZOYLTHIOSEMICARBAZONE-2-(4-NITROPHENYL)-5-METHYL-2, 4-DIHYDROPYRAZOLE-3-ONE

Abstract

A series of complexes with general composition [ML2(H2O)2] (where M = Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and L = 4-benzoylthiosemicarbazone-2-(4–nitro phenyl)-5-methyl-2-4-dihydropyrazole-3-one) have been prepared The thiosemicabazone ligand and metal complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, 1HNMR, magnetic measurement, specific conductivity measurement, electronic spectra, thermal studies, and biological activity, The present ligand act as a monobasic bidentate ligand and coordinates to the metal ions through thiolate sulfa and azomethene nitrogen. Thermal decomposition of the metal complexes indicates loss of water of hydration and decomposition of the ligand. The complexes of transition and non-transition metals with thiosemicarbazides have been studied extensively. Thiosemicarbazone have gained special attention due to their activity against protozoa, influenza, small pox, malaria, tuberculosis, antimicrobial and antitumor activity of their metal complexes. Metal complexes of thiosemicarbazones have emerged as a new class of chemotherapeutic agents which exhibit inhibitory activity against most cancers through inhibition of a crucial enzyme. Owing to the wide range of medicinal use of metal complexes of thiosemicarbazone and in continuation of earlier work on metal chelates of thiosemicarbazone. A five member ring containing adjacent nitrogen atoms is known as pyrazole and its dihydro form is known as pyrazolins. Pyrazolins are finding to be bactericidal, fungicidal and insectcidal agent some pyrazolins are also reported as anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, anesthetic and analgertic properties certain pyrazolin derivaties are found effective for killing the house flies on contact. Several pyrazoline are also useful as biodegradable agro chemicals and intermediates in dye industry. Electronic spectra and magnetic susceptibility measurements reveal octahedral geometry around the metal ion. The complexes were found to non- electrolytic in nature on the basis of low value of molar conductance. Due to their good completing properties, biological activity, analytical application and their of different activity thiosemicarbazide as well as their metal complexes have been subject of many studies. It has been reported that substituted pyroazolones, pyrazoliones and pyrazoles have potential biological activity. Derivatives of 2-pyrazolines-5 ones have been studied for their importance as antipyretics.
