Title

Review on PLC Based Transformer Monitoring, Fault Detection & Protection

Abstract

The power transformer is online monitoring and protection of the transformer is required for automation. The power and distribution transformer automation have been done by using a programmable logic controller (PLC) system. The PLC automation is to be monitoring as well as detecting condition such as transformer load, current voltage, and oil level of the transformer. The most important equipment of the power system is the transformer. The data collecting, condition monitoring, detecting fault, protecting fault is the most important issue of the transformer of electrical power system. For solving the above transformer issue using by PLC automation in the proposed system The PLC, relay, sensor, HMI is used to detecting, monitoring the fault of Transformer such as overvoltage, overloading phase to phase fault, temperature fault, oil level of the transformer. The probability of Transformer fault occurring is a max, therefore, the protection of the Transformer is most important. The transformer internal fault, as well as external fault, Is to be detected by using the PLC technique. The PLC system benefit is saving energy, save labor and material also the PLC automatic technique has the improved quality, accuracy more secure, reliable operation and highly efficient. The fault is defined with the help of a desired range of parameters is to be set of the transformer.
