Barbara Kingsolver is a widely acclaimed and successful American novelist. Her works are translated in more than two dozen languages and have been adopted into the core literature curriculum in high schools and colleges throughout the nation. Pigs in Heaven is a story based on relationship between a mother and daughter. It’s a social critique which focuses mainly on the injustices surrounding Native Americans and how Taylor succeeds in retaining her guardianship of Turtle, a Cherokee daughter. Ecocriticism is the study which focuses on the relationship between literature and physical environment and brings to light how nature plays an important role in human life.
