BACKGROUND; Alcohol is a toxic drug and Alcohol is one of the most widely used drug substance in the world According to global status report on September 2018 world health organization. AIM; the present study aims to compare covert anxiety and overt anxiety among alcoholic patients and normal non alcoholic male SAMPLE; in the present study a sample of 200 alcoholic patient with the diagnosis of DSM-IV –TR of purposive and incidental selected of De-Addiction center and hospitals was taken .along with these 200 normal non-alcoholic adult male matched on aged and educational background and socio economic status were also included. the sample was collected by using the purposive and incidental sampling method .TOOL; IPAT anxiety scale Indian adaptation by S.D. kapoor were used as tools to assess covert anxiety and overt anxiety of self analysis form ASQ. The analysis included independent sample t test .RESULT; the result of the study showed that alcoholic group was higher on covert anxiety and overt anxiety then the non alcoholic normal group .CONCLUSION; further results shows that alcoholic patient had significantly more score on covert anxiety (p<0.05) and overt anxiety (p<0.05) compared to non alcoholic.
