Man’s life is a boon of nature on which his survival, advancement and prosperity is dependent. India is in urgent need to protect its Wild life as there are number of endangered species which are in a condition of extinction. Wild life in India is facing a lot of perils because of socio-economic factors such as deforestation, pollution, illegal trading, excessive poaching. However, there are many steps taken by the government for the development of wild life in India but it is also the duty of the citizens to create awareness regarding the depletion of the Wild life and its serious impact on our ecosystem. Hence to maintain its existence and to keep the environment balanced, we must shield the Wild life. This research paper discusses Wild life Protection in India, and different schemes, programmes which have been enforced, and their characteristics, successes and failures.
