Title

FT-IR SPECTROSCOPY STUDY OF DECCAN TRAP STILBITE

Abstract

The different sample of Zeolites occurring in Deccan trap region and have been studied. The instrumental studied by FT-IR spectroscopy. Zeolites are part of the largest family of tectosilicate. They are a crystalline, hydrated aluminosilicate having a tetrahedral structure. Structurally, in the zeolite, cations and water molecules are occurring in channel and voids. The channels and voids are formed by the three dimensional (3-D) arrangement of AlO4 and SiO4 tetrahedral structure. Internal and external linkage in zeolite gives different sharp peaks in Infrared region. Asymmetric stretching vibration caused by Al-O-Al and Si-O-Si. By analyzing these spectra we can identify the zeolite. Major structural groups present in Deccan trap Natural Zeolites are detected by infrared spectroscopy. Especially mid IR region [4000 – 200 cm-1] is used for the determination of zeolite structure type and groups 1500 – 400 cm-1 in infrared spectroscopy. Different zeolites show different IR peaks.
