Zeolite deposits of potential economic interest are found in sediments and in the intercalated volcanics of Devguradia hills, in Indore. Indore is located in the western region of Madhya Pradesh, on the southern edge of the Malwa plateau. The present work mainly focuses on characterization studies of the Heulandite sample collected from Devguradia hills, Deccan Traps of Central Indiain order to find its economical viability and potential applications. The zeolite mineral was analyzed using different analytical techniques i.e. Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Differential scanning colorimetric (DSC) electron dispersive X-ray (EDX) and AES-ICP. No structural collapse was observed on heating even up to 900 °C, suggests that the material is ideal for industrial applications.
