Title

SOLAR POWERED ELECTRIC SERVICE DELIVERY VEHICLE

Abstract

The rise in the price of fuel and pollution issues has increased the interest on the development of electric vehicles. Though we make use of the electric vehicle, it provides less coverage of distance in case of load or service delivery vehicle. So, the application of solar energy is done in order to power up the vehicle. The basic ideology of solar based electric vehicle is to use energy that is stored in a battery to drive the motor and it moves the vehicle in forward or reverse direction. The solar panel may be connected either in parallel or series, and the charge controllers direct this solar power to the batteries. The DC voltage from the solar panel is then boosted up using a boost DC-DC converter, and given to the DC motor which is used as the drive motor for the vehicle application. Here we make use of two Lithium ion batteries. While one of the lithium battery drains on runtime the other battery tends to charge from the solar panel and the swapping of the battery is done once after the battery is drained completely. The voltage level from the solar panel and the batteries could be detected and displayed in the LCD to the user.
