The project constitutes an electronic lock system that can be controlled remotely by the user by using Internet of Things [IOT]. The system consists of a web camera that records the images of the people when the embedded PIR sensor in the system detects any human activity. The system then compares the captured image with the images stored in the database, if the captured image matches with the database the door will be unlocked automatically; if the images don’t match then an alert message will be sent to the user via SMS and e-mail. In addition to the alert message the image captured by the camera and a web address will be shared with the user via e-mail; by accessing this web address the user can choose to lock or unlock the door; in the provided web page the user can also choose to activate or deactivate the buzzer that is provide with the system. The electronic lock system is also provided with a vibration sensor; in case of an unfortunate situation like robbery or break in the sensor senses the abnormal vibration and automatically activates the buzzer alerting people nearby; it also sends alert message to the user or to an emergency number provided. The sensitivity of the vibration sensor can be adjusted on need by altering the threshold value in the python code.
