Synchropack system is a part of Automobile Transmission system which is used to shift the gear for varying the torque and RPM required to propel the vehicle. The preliminary analysis results led us to an unusual movement of gear in an oil film mounted gear transmission. On further research on unwonted gear movement, study showed that while shifting of gear a side force is applied by the shift fork to the sleeve via synchronizer ring which further transfers to the gear through Dog crown. The paper discusses phenomena of TILT due to side force and accepted clearance between the gear and shaft. The simulation is carried taking calculated value of TILT in gear into consideration which leads to the failure of Synchropack components giving maximum impact on Hub. In conclusion, suggestions are made to optimize the critical component design.
