Abstract: Cash may not be a king anymore; everyone from vegetable vendor to tea shop is adopting digital payment to move away to cash crunch. The payment system in India needs to pass the litmus test of safety, security, soundness, efficiency and accessibility. In order to address all these, payment systems have evolved from barter to digital system. Now a day India tries to stepping toward e-payment. This paper describe different methods of digital or electronic method like plastic money means debit or credit cards, Aadhaar Enable Payment System (AEPS), Unified Payment Interface (UPI), Internet banking etc. This study aimed to identify the challenges of electronic payment system and offer some solution to improve the e- payment system.
