Phytochemical rich plants and their products have been associated with a lower risk of some diseases such as heart disease and cancer. Phytochemicals may acts like antioxidants to facilitate protect and regenerate essential nutrients or work to deactivate cancer-causing substances. The present study was concluded that extract of Tamarindus indica which has various types of phytochemical compounds especially in aqueous extract of bark showed the maximum number of phytochemical compounds including alkaloids, phenols, terpenoids, flavonoids, glycosides, tannins, proteins and steroids then the plant extract exhibited an antibacterial effect against all the three tested bacterial organisms such as Proteus mirabilis, Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. And also shows the highest anti bacterial activity of aqueous extract of Tamarindus indica bark against Proteus mirabilis. This proves the use of plants as traditional medicine for healing of various diseases.
