The aims for success that one sets for him/herself come in all shapes and sizes. Somehow, most of the people have an insular view to attain success. However, success is a relative term and depends on one’s perception. Everyone desires to succeed in life that which may be achieving financial success, material success or spiritual success. In this connection, the absolute reality is hard work, perseverance, and patience which are the true keys to success and cannot be substituted with anything else. The knowledge of various psychological aspects may play a vital role in improving the chances to get excellence in competitive exams. Thus, the present study intended at understanding the effect of stress, and coping style of the aspirants in IIT-JEE exam. To fulfill the objective, The Stress Appraisal Measure (SAM) by Peacock and Wong (1990), and Adolescent Coping Orientation for Problem Experiences (ACOPE) by McCubbin and Thompson (1987) were administered on aspirants who were selected purposively from coaching institutes of Kota and Jaipur city. Mean, SD, SED, and ‘t’ ratio were calculated for variables undertaken to find out the difference between selected and non-selected IIT-JEE aspirants. The results suggest that selected aspirants do differ significantly on stress, and coping style in comparison to non-selected aspirants.
