Title

Surveillance of Fusarium wilt disease incidence caused by Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lycopersici in Krishnagiri district of Tamilnadu

Abstract

Tomato was the most important vegetable crop and it is more prone to many diseases. Among them, Fusarium wilt is the one of the important disease caused by Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lycopersici The infected plants exhibit yellowing, wilting of the foliage, vascular discolouration, stunting and eventual death of the whole plant. The disease was found most predominant in Krishnagiri district of Tamilnadu, India which was one of the leading tomato growing area where the survey undergone in Puliyampatti, Puthumottur, Kalorpathi, Karadiyur, Baleathottam, Kannadhahalli and Santhur showed the disease incidence ranged from 9 to 30 er cent. The soil population of Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lycopersici was observed maximum in Baleathottam. The positive correlation was observed with regard to disease incidence and inoculum level. Increase of inoculum level applied to the soil increased the soil population of Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lycopersici thereby exhibited increased disease incidence.

Key Words

Fusarium wilt, Survey, Pathogen population, Inoculum level.
