Title

Mirroring the Society: Motifs and Themes in Aravind Adiga’s The White Tiger

Abstract

India is a country of social and political diversity. Twentieth-century Indian English writers of fiction have great interest for social and political issues and they have dealt with these matters in their writings. Among them, Aravind Adiga plays a significant role. Adiga in his debut novel, The White Tiger he writes about the corrupt Indian society and the ways through which politicians exploit the people of the country. This novel’s characters typify the realities as found in the impoverished rural areas of India. The corrupted politicians are portrayed through the characters of the great socialist. The evils of the Indian caste system which forbid and degrade the lower sections of the society also finds its voice through the characters. The aim of this article is to bring out the social reflection of Indian society as projected the novel The White Tiger.
