Pavement skid resistance impacts road functionality and can affect user safety and vehicle operation costs. Recent statistics show that many traffic accidents occur due to a loss of control on vehicle by the driver. This is mainly due to a loss of friction between tire and a road. Many of these accidents could be avoided by introducing ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) based on the detection of loss of tire/road friction. This study evaluates the effect of friction on dry-condition crashes. The data was collected practically by performing the test on the Sardar Patel ring road Ahmedabad city, with four-wheeler vehicle. The test was performed for ten intervals and the average skidding distance and average skid friction was calculated. This research thus aims to determine a skid resistance in order to initially establish the investigatory level of skid resistance for measuring the skidding rate to determine whether the tyre properties are related in increase or decrease rate of skid resistance while driving a vehicle.
