Regional Rural Banks are working in different states of India and play significant role in growth of country through rural financial inclusion and agriculture sector development. Currently there are 56 RRBs operating in India and Government looks to bring down these banks to 36 by the end of next fiscal. This will be done through Third phase of amalgamation of RRBs. Government plans to have only one RRB in a state which leverages its strong regional and market connect rather then 3-4 players. This research paper aims to analyse the performance of regional rural banks of India. The performance indicators such as no. of RRBs, their branch networks , share capital , deposits, borrowings, investments etc are taken into consideration from financial year 2012 to 2018 for this study.
