Colostrum is the initial milk secreted by bovine during parturition and the first few days after birth. It is the first food for all mammals. It provides great protection to the new born against pathogens by transferring the antibodies and growth factors for optimal growth and development. The composition of bovine colostrums includes carbohydrates, proteins, growth factors, enzymes, enzyme inhibitors, antimicrobial factors, cytokines, vitamins, minerals, etc which can be used effectively in cosmetic preparations. This review mainly focuses on the composition of bovine colostrum and how it can be used effectively as a cosmeceutical ingredient in various cosmetic preparations.
