Title

IMPACT OF MOTHER’S WORKING STATUS AND EDUCATIONAL LEVEL ON PARENT-CHILD RELATIONSHIP (A STUDY IN ALIGARH CITY)

Abstract

Parents and children are the center of a happy family, associated with one another in a way that is mutually satisfying, pleasing, and enduring. The relation of parents with their children depend on the various factors, and here the mother’s professional level and educational level is seen as the predictor of mothers’ relation with their children. The purpose of the study was to compare the mother child relationship across mothers working and educational status (3-6 Years. A cross-sectional study was conducted, and 200 respondents were selected from each domicile. Purposive sampling technique and parent-child relationship inventory (Gerard, Anthony B) was used to collect the data. The data was analyzed by employing the Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis test. The association between the parent-child relationship and working status of mothers found to be significantly different (p ≤ 0 .05). The parent-child relationship of mothers with their children may vary according to the working state of respondents. The unemployed mothers were having a high emotional bond with their children when compared to employed mothers. The reason could be that employed mothers have lack of time to spend with their children. The association between the educational level of mothers and the parent-child relationship were found to be significantly different (p ≤ 0 .05). The mother’s having higher educational level are having a strong relationship with their children.
