Title

SMARTWHEELS: SENSOR BASED WHEELCHAIR USING IOT .

Abstract

Many disabled people usually depend on others in their daily life especially in getting from one place to another. For the wheelchair users, they need continuously someone to help them in going the wheelchair moving. By having a wheelchair control system will help handicapped persons become independent. The system is a wireless wheelchair control system which employs a voice and head motion recognition systems along with finger gesture learning for triggering and controlling all its movements. This technology is a key technology which will provide a new way of human interaction with machine or tools. The wheelchair responds to the voice command from its user to perform any movements functions. This project uses Arduino kit Micro-controller circuit and DC motors to create the movement of wheelchair and Ultrasonic Sensors to detect the hurdles in between wheelchair and the way of direction. By using the system, the users are able to operate the wheelchair by simply speaking to the wheelchair microphone or capturing head movement. The basic movement functions include forward and reverse direction, left and right turns and stop. It utilizes a controller microchip to control the system operations. To accomplish this task, an assembly language program is written and stored in the controller's memory. The user who is going to operate the wheelchair can be able to set the commands for the movement of the wheelchair at the implementation stage.
