Title

PERISTALTIC FLOW OF A CONDUCTING VISCOUS FLUID IN A ROTATING CHANNEL

Abstract

The study of flow in rotating channel is useful in bio-medical engineering and also in geophysical and astrophysical phenomena. Rotating wall- vessel (RWV) bioreactors augmented by peristaltic pumping have been used in simulated micro gravity on cell culturing is extensively used in seri-culture and other farming areas. As a result of secondary flow when a fluid under pressure gradient is rotated leads to study of viscous flow in a rotating channel. The elaborate studies of Hall effects resulted in the investigations by Ghosh(1994) and Subbareddy(2004) of the peristaltic transport of a viscous fluid in a rotating channel under long wave length and negligible inertia. Finally we observe that the velocity profiles are nearly parabolic in nature, the ends of the channel walls are shifted towards the center of the channel and there is no rotational effect for small values of the rotation parameter, all of which are depicted in graphs.
