Title

A Study on Teacher Effectiveness of Secondary School Teachers in Nadia district, West Bengal

Abstract

Effective Teaching is an art and no easy endeavor. Generally Teaching is delivered by a teacher to enhance the amount of learning of a learner. To make learning more meaningful, understandable and fruitful to a learner, effectiveness of teaching delivered by a teacher is very essential condition. Through the present study an attempt has been made by the investigators to study the effectiveness of teachers teaching in secondary school in Nadia district, West Bengal. The investigators have used Descriptive Survey method for the present study. The sample consists of 363 teachers who are working in different Secondary Schools (under W.B.B.S.E. & W.B.C.H.S.E) in the district of Nadia. Simple Random Sampling technique has been used for the selection of sample. The tools used for data collection is as follows: Teacher Effectiveness Scale (TES-KU, 2011) developed and standardized by Umme Kulsum.For the analysis of data Mean, S.D. Z-score, t-Test, have been used by the investigators in the present study. The researcher find out that there is most teachers show below average to above average effectiveness, few teachers show most and highly effectiveness and ineffectiveness also. The researcher also find out that, there have not existed any kinds of significant difference between the Female and Male secondary school teachers’ mean teacher effectiveness, UG and PG qualified secondary school teacher’s mean teacher effectiveness,UG and PG qualified male secondary school teacher’s mean teacher effectiveness,≤10 years and >10 years teaching experienced secondary school teacher’s mean teacher effectiveness, ≤10 years and >10 years teaching experienced female secondary school teacher’s mean teacher effectiveness, ≤10 years and >10 years teaching experienced male secondary school teacher’s mean teacher effectiveness. The researcher find out that, there have existed a significant difference between the UG and PG qualified female secondary school teacher’s mean teacher effectiveness.
