Abstract—Power electronic based micro-grid system, renewable sources have fluctuating power characteristics due to various environment factor. Power electronic converter is increasing the utilization of power conditioning, compensations, and filtering application. Power electronic converter consists of a power circuit which can be realized through a variety of configuration of power switches and passive component and control protection system. The link between two is through switching signal and feedback control signal. This paper briefly introduces the power circuit of the most common use power electronic converter for high power application. Also, this paper introduces different converter topology use in micro-grid such as traditional converters(VSI, CSI) and z source inverter and switches boost inverter. Also, this paper explains the comparative study of different converters and they are modes of operation.
