The main objective of this project is to study the tribological behavior of an Aluminum disc under the usage of various lubricants in pin on disc apparatus. Minimization of friction and wear rate is the biggest challenges in machinery components. Therefore, the objective of this project is to experimentally investigate the wear and friction characteristics of the disc material under the usage of lubricants. SAE 140, distilled water and used vegetable oil were used as lubricants in this experimentation to analyze the tribological behavior of the material. Pin on disc type of tribometer is used for this work. The experiments were conducted for constant load of 20N, 30N and 40N. Based on readings it was concluded that SAE 140 has less wear rate compared to the used vegetable oil and distilled water.
