Life Insurance Industry in India remains the most atractive destination for foreign insurance companies. India with one of the lowest penetration and density has attracted Foreign Direct Investments in insurance space. Life Insurance industry deployed a capital over ~27000 crores,has ~11000 branches across the country and industry completed 18 yrs of operations post privatization. Still we have more than dozen companies struggling with accumulated losses. Going slow on expansion, Insurance Companies are attempting to take an evaluated risk.New customer acquisition leads to business strain owing to accounting entire expense ratio during customer acquisition.Companies are hesitant to deploy more capital for building distribution. With many dynamics and determinants understanding life insurance profitability remains the most elusive for the insurance companies.
