The present study is designed to lay down the pharmacognostical activity of leaves of Entada rheedii. For standardization of this plant, morphological and anatomical characterization was carried out. As per ayurvedic pharmacopoeia of India, physico-chemical parameters viz, ash content, extractive values were analysed. The leaf consists of semicircular midrib and uneven lamina. Phloem elements are located in wide circular units beneath the xylem stands. Tannin containing cells are abundant in the phloem parenchyma. The lamina has dorsiventral differentiation and the cells secrete deuse mucilage. Some of the stomata are paracytic and in the outer region anisocytic type. The venations of the lamina are well defined and densely reticulate. The vein islets are quite wide; they are rectangular or squarish in outline. The main part of the petiole has wide vascular cylinder. The cylinder is enclosed by a thick boundary of highly thick walled fibres. This study will help in providing references, information for the identification of plant.
