Title

Nature as Culture; The Afro-Centric Paradigm in Wole Soyinka’s

Authors

Abstract

Nature varies from culture to culture. The essence that constitutes the man is his nature. Imposition of one’s nature on others may culminate in discrepancy to the whole practicing system. It leads to a cross-culture at the expense of the indigenous nature. Homi K Bhabha, the post modern cultural critic, in “Of Mimicry and Man” and Raymond Williams in “Culture is Ordinary” identified these cultural ruptures. They speak of the ruptures and their repercussions in the third world due to the political and cultural conquest. In the light of Gramscian theory of hegemonic cultural supremacy by consent, the scenario of the colonised states is paralleled with their premises of ascendancy of the corporate culture. Analysis of the hybrid socio economic cultures of the postcolonial countries in the name of modernising civility is the theme of majority of the post colonial writings.
