I have decided in this paper to discuss various recognition conflicts and issues in Things Fall Apart(1958) by Chinua Achebe. I will also be discussing how misrecognition affects the life of various characters in Things Fall Apartand what changes take place due to falling apart of the identity of Igbo clan and its people. I will try to make it conspicuous how the society's recognition of certain characters impinge on their opinion of themselves and what transition comes forth eventually in their lives. My goal is to bring out this transition and to discern the significance of positive recognition and dangers of misrecognition.
