Title

A STUDY OF BOTANICAL BIOFILTRATION TO IMPROVE AIR QUALITY

Abstract

Exposure to organic volatile compounds can have many health effects (VOC). Sick construction syndrome and other building disorders also are associated with VOC. In any home or business, ordinary materials can be exposed to harmful substances. The aim was to examine the best indoor air quality plants in a small office. The VOC concentration for both inside and after the test room was monitored with oil paint in a panel of 0,05 x 0,05 meters, which was used to produce at least 3ppm of VOCs due to the S5 Aerosol Modeller and a VOC gas detector. This study employed three varieties of indoor plants: Nephrolepisexaltata, Rhapisexcelsa and Dracaena scented. For 8 hours at 10 minutes, data were monitored. The number of pots used to reduce VOC materials and the plant form used in the rooms were not significantly different. It may be attributed to a number of factors like external air interference and the condition of the experimental room. This experiment indicates that further study in a regulated environment should be undertaken to better understand how air quality indoor plants can enhance human health and well-being.

Key Words
