Title

EFFECTIVENESS OF CONSTRUCTIVIST LEARNING ON THE RETENTION IN ACHIEVEMENT OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS BASED ON COGNITIVE STYLE

Abstract

The present study was conducted to find out the effectiveness of the developed instructional material in social science based on constructivist learning on retention in achievement among the secondary school students. A Non-equivalent pre-test – post-test design was used for the study. The sample consists of 395 standard IX students from the different schools of Trivandrum District. The effectiveness was assessed by using Achievement tests in social science and compared with the help of Analysis of-variances. The findings of the study established that the developed instructional material for constructivist learning is effective and useful for enhancing the retention in achievement in social science of secondary school students.
