Abstract
The present research paper is concerned with past study of women in the politics of India. History has been influential in exposing the shortcomings of women's meagre space in the political sphere and decision-making. It is poignant that the government and other formal institutions are lulled into this complacency even after seventy three years of democratic governance and have failed to endorse women's involvement and contribution. The aim of this paper is to educate readers with a theoretical and conceptual comprehension of socio-economic and political problems that hinder the way to women's progress.
