Background Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by hyperplasia of synoviocytes leading to joint destruction. It has several extra vascular complications anemia is one of them. High prevalence of anemia among rheumatoid arthritis patients is becoming more common even though it is not considered a major complication. Anemia may worsen the disease symptoms and influences on the patient’s quality of life. Studies on prevalence of anemia in rheumatoid arthritis and its impact on population are scarce. Earlier studies suggest that by treating anemia, disease progression can be reduced with improvement in the patient’s quality of life.
