Eleusine coracana L., commonly called Ragi is a major food crop worldwide particularly in developing countries. Being a part of traditional culinary as well as folk-medicine systems, Ragi is rich in natural phytochemicals that are responsible for its nutritional and medicinal qualities. In the present investigation, the dried seeds and 3 types of sprouts – 24hrs, 48 hrs and 72 hrs germinated samples were subjected to in vitro antidiabetic assays. The results indicated that the dried seeds had more potential than the sprouts in antidiabetic activity. This study emphasizes the potential usage of Ragi in various food preparations and pharma sectors
