The goal of this prologue is to introduce the reader to the subject at hand and to establish some context. The WHO defines health as the state of being in good spiritual, mental, emotional, and social standing. The World Health Organisation (WHO) agrees that having a healthy mind is important for living a fulfilled life. People who are mentally well are more likely to be happy with their lives and to take an active role in shaping their communities. The inability to make sound decisions is a major distinguishing feature of people with cognitive disabilities, setting them apart from those with physical health problems. Because of the guilt they feel, many people with mental illnesses hide it from their loved ones, limiting their chances of getting the help they need. Thus, people with mental disabilities are affected, making them more open to exploitation, abuse, neglect, and marginalisation.
