Depression is a major mental health problem of today’s society. The development in science and technology, modernization and urbanization bring about lot of changes in the life styles and values of families, which becomes a common cause of depression among people. The present study was undertaken to study the prevalence of depression among College Going Students and also to study if gender difference exists in relation to depression. A sample of 100 College Going Students (50 girls and 50 boys) in the age group of 21-22 years were drawn randomly from 4th year, College of Agriculture, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat. ‘Depression Scale’ developed by Dr. Shamim Karim and Dr.Rama Tiwari was administered to assess the depression level of College Going Students. Results indicated that maximum numbers of College Going Students were moderately depressed and girls were more depressed than boys.
