Title

ECO-FRIENDLY SYNTHESIS OF GOLD NANOPARTICLES FROM JUSTICIA ADHATODA AND OCIMUM TENUIFLORUM AQUEOUS EXTRACT

Abstract

This study deals with facile and rapid synthesis of AuNPs using Justicia adhatoda and Ocimum tenuiflorum leaves extracts. The synthesized AuNPs were characterized by UV-Vis, FT-IR, AFM and TEM techniques. The phytochemical analysis showed the presence of bioactive secondary metabolites, which are involved in the synthesis of nanoparticles. The surface plasmon resonance (SPR) observed at 500-600nm, confirmed the eco-friendly synthesis of AuNPs (gold nanoparticles), respectively. The TEM images showed poly dispersed and round, oval shapes of AuNPs with an average particles size of 5-50 nm. TEM results are in close agreements with that of AFM analysis. The FT-IR spectroscopy revealed the presence of C-Br, C-Cl and NO2 groups, which involved in the synthesis of AuNPs. Thus obtained AuNPs can be a new generation of diagnostic probes, promising tools for pharmaceutical or cell biological applications.
