The present study is designed to explore the anatomical features of leaf, petiole, rachis and stem of Brownea ariza benth. of the family Leguminosae. Microscopic characteristics are widely used to identify different species especially in pharmacological purposes. In Brownea, the leaves are green in colour; Oblong lanceolate, exstipulate, opposite with Caudate apex and the venation is Paripinnate. The Microanatomy of leaf showed the presence of anisocytic stomata only on the abaxial side. The anatomical characteristics in the leaf lamina consist of tanniferous cells, stone cells and girder like fibrous units which shows primitive character. In petiole the main vascular strand is cylindrical. Secretory cells and solitary crystals present. In the rachis the main vascular strand is cylindrical. The outer epidermis showed the presence multicellular elongated hairs and are brown in colour. The outer cortex consists of chlorenchyma. In the stem Taninferous cells found to be in the cortex, phloem, pith. Secretory cavities lined with epithelium occur in the cortex. Outer to the pericycle a broken band of sclerenchyma or a continuous ring of fibers are present.
