Money laundering is increasingly becoming a problem for banking systems throughout the world. The purpose of such a transaction is to evade taxes by masking the source and destination of funds. In view of this definition ,this study attempts to study and detect money laundering transactions. A simple but effective approach has been adopted to detect suspicious transactions, namely behavioral pattern analysis. The accounts exhibiting behavior different from others are identified as suspicious, these suspicious transactions are then investigated further to ascertain their involvement in money laundering operations.
