Abstract: Solar power in India is a fast developing industry. The country's solar installed capacity reached 26 GW as of 30 September 2018. Approximately 78% of the world’s electricity demand is fulfilled by fossil-fuel based power plants. [1] Electricity generated from such power plants is costly and often leads to environmental pollution and subsequent health hazards. For example, pollutants from coal combustion cause a variety of respiratory total contribution of such sources is very poor in developing and highly populated countries like India and China. Some parts of Asian countries are still not connected to the electricity grid, while, in some areas, electricity supply is not continuous. India is considered a sun-blessed country, with an average of 4 7 kWh/ m2 - of solar energy every day, when compared to other countries like Germany (2 5. 2 kWh/ m2 per day), France ( 3 4. 5 kWh/ m 2 per day ), Spain ( 4.54 kWh/ m2 per day), and Italy (4.09 kWh/ m2 per day), which are all among the top countries using solar power.[2] The solar energy industry uses watt-hour per square metre (Wh/m2) per unit time. The relation to the SI unit is thus: 1 kW/m2 = (24 h/day)× (1 kW/m2) = (24 kWh/m2)/day = (365 day/year)×(24 kWh/m2)/day = (8760 kWh/m2)/year.
