Title

DESIGN ANALYSIS AND OPTIMIZATION OF CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION(CVT)

Abstract

Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) system provides a solution that enable the generation of stepless shifting of gear ratio regardless of the speed and torque requirement. CVT technology had been available long ago, and it became popular among the luxury car. However, due to the certain limitation of current CVT design, CVT are not that popular among the machineries. This Paper assesses the design of CVT and find out the weakest component and optimizes the design of CVT in order to get longer life period of CVT operation. CVT model has been created in Creo Parametric. Ansys Analysis has been done for current material and proposed material of Belt. Current design has Low belt life due to High deformation or max torque condition; this problem is aim to minimize by optimizing the design. Generally max torque in the two wheelers equipped with CVT as transmission drive is 10 Nm. This study has been done in four steps, existing design, analysis results, optimized design and comparison of results. Optimized design has been obtained by change of material and design.
