A smart mining helmet was developed that is able to detect hazardous events such as danger level of hazardous gases etc. The gas concentrations can be measured by interfacing CO and CO2 sensors with ARM series microcontroller. The ARM controller senses the data and works accordingly. That is if high density gas concentration is detected, microcontroller activates the buzzer which gives an alarming sound. Zigbee technology is used to communicate the data over PC. In future, we can add GSM to send the message to authorized person if any hazardous events are detected.
