Social entrepreneurship is the utilization of the techniques by start up companies and other entrepreneurs to develop, fund and implement solutions to social, cultural, or environmental issues. The main objectives of this paper include to study the concept of social entrepreneurship; to study social entrepreneurship in India; to study why India needs social entrepreneurship to prosper; to study the opportunities for a social entrepreneur in India; and to study the challenges for social entrepreneurship in India. This paper is mainly predicated on secondary data. The secondary data has been accumulated with the avail of research papers, journals, magazines, articles from newspapers and sundry websites. Some primary data has withal been discussed in this paper that has been accumulated with the avail of face to face interactions and interviews with some learned persons and research philomaths.
