The paper is an attempt to investigate the inter-linkage between the workforce participation and economic empowerment of women. Towards the sustainable development goal, women empowerment has been identified as a vital fact in regard to the issues of poverty, different types if inequality as well as overall well being of not only women, but also of children and societies, especially in case of developing nations including India. In this context, by using the primary data collected from Nadia district of the state of West Bengal in India and applying the ordered logit econometric model, the study observes four significant parameters influencing the above mentioned relationship; those are type of work, proximity of work to domestic sphere, family income and a group of empowerment indicators.
