This research paper examines the socio-spatial dynamics of informal settlements in the megacities of India. Informal settlements, commonly known as slums, are a prevalent feature in urban areas, especially in developing countries. In India, megacities such as Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata face significant challenges related to the growth and management of informal settlements. This paper aims to understand the factors contributing to the formation and expansion of informal settlements, analyze their socio-spatial characteristics, and assess the implications for urban planning and development. By examining case studies and relevant literature, this research highlights the need for comprehensive policies and interventions to address the socio-spatial dynamics of informal settlements and promote inclusive and sustainable urban development.
