Abstract
The definition and scope of translation has new and emerging implications in terms of the new emerging areas of cultural studies, The idea of translation nowadays is not just limited to the areas of literal or word to word translation. It now also looks at the idea of cultural transmission, re codification and transliteration. The present paper is an attempt to have a glance at the new emerging idea of Translation as Refraction given by Andre Lefevere keeping in mind the politics of poetics and translation. The text being examined for the same is Sigmund Freud’s On Narcissism.
