UV Spectrometric and HPLC methods were developed and validated for estimation of Linezolid in tablet dosage form. Developed methods were applied for comparative study of generic vs branded formulations of Linezolid. The main objective is to compare and evaluate the price and quality of branded and generic formulations of Linezolid 600 mg tablet. Linezolid in methanol shows maximum absorbance at 258 nm. The data of linear regression analysis indicated a good linear relationship over the concentration range of 5-30 µg/mlwith a correlation coefficient (R2) 0.998 by both UV- Spectroscopy and HPLC. The evaluation parameters like weight variation, hardness of the tablet, friability, thickness, disintegration test, drug content uniformity and in vitro release studies were performed as prescribed in Indian Pharmacopeia 2010.
